Outlaws, In-laws and Addiction.

Posted by Amethyst Anne in , ,
I may have a slightly addictive personality. By which I don’t imply that my personality is addictive, no I am referring to my tendency to hone in and become completely and utterly absorbed with the flavour of the day.
I have spent countless hours hunched over a sewing machine, sitting at a computer, crafting sparkly nipple decorations, knitting etc. Until the project I am working on is DONE! I cannot do anything else, my brain doesn’t function properly. For me there are no other options. Of course this addictive nature has got me into some troublesome spots with regards to other things that may or may not be good for me. Fun- yes, healthy- hells no. But that’s not what I am talking about here ,so you will hear no wild stories today.
Where the hell was I going- oh yeah, that addiction thing, it applies to TV shows too.  Most noticeably a few years back, the man I sleep with and I got turned onto Dexter. Of course we started late and we immediately got hooked. We rented the DVD’s of the first Season and we watched them back to back so that we could start the second season all good to go. This wasn’t too bad, but this time.
You see the husband talked me into watching Sons of Anarchy. I was resistant at first, and I must say that this show just finished up its third season, so there are two seasons to watch on DVD, and one season on the boob tube to watch. That is a lot of catch up.
So after the first episode I was hooked. I mean HOOKED. Did I mention that the show is about a Biker club? You know, bikers, sexy, mean, alpha bikers.. psst husband, you should stop reading right now and go look at something else for awhile..
Go on, I’ll wait.....
Is he gone?
Ok, good he’s gone, so yeah, um, bikers.. yummy ones- but that aside the show itself is unbelievable!  The women are strong and fierce, the plots are well written, the characters are solid and yeah  it is addictive as all get the hell out.
Of course, we watched the first season back to back ( 13 episodes per season, 1 hour each) we were averaging 3 a night!! We would get everything done that needed to and after The Cub went to bed we would hunker in for a three hour tour of biker land.
This all started last Thursday.
Last night we finished Season 2, because we had too. (26 episodes in 6 days)
Now don’t you be judging me.... We had to finish it because the inlaws are coming for a visit. I couldn’t leave it mid season for 4 days!! GAH!!
The mother in law, sister in law, niece ,boyfriend/baby daddy and the great nephew are coming for a visit.
Yes you read that right. I became a Great Aunt in January. Actually I prefer the term Greatest Aunt. ( oh yeah this has gone a long way to my overall old feeling)
Anyhoooo, there will be company; company that I needed to clean the house for. Like clean as in actually really clean for because, well, it is my MOTHER IN LAW.
So you see where I may have gotten into a smidge of trouble? I’ve had my ass parked in front of the TV drooling over Bikers when I should have been CLEANING...
Yes they come today. They are enroute as we speak.
No panic!
There are dishes all over my kitchen.
The bed needs to be made.
There are dust bunnies abound!
I am at work, and the last time I checked the Fur kids are rather useless when it comes to cleaning.
*breathes in..*
Oh and know what?
It was TOTALLY worth it!!
Bring on Season 3!!
Vrrooom, Vrooom..

Here is what I would like to say:

I have no idea what you mean! How the hell could you be so irresponsible as to leave all that pre-inlaw visit prep work until the last minute for a TV SHOW?!! One that you have on DVD, for CRISSAKES?!! Smarten up!

But, here's the truth ... except for the fact that my inlaws are dead and I never have to worry about visits from them ... my personality is right there with you. It's why I stopped reading for such a long time, because once I begin something, good luck getting me away from it for anything short of adult diapers.

Good luck with your day ... and the visit.

PS - that show does look pretty cool ... is that Katey Segal?

Sexy, gorgeous bikers??? Um...not in my experience. But I guess if a series about a serial killer makes for interesting viewing anything goes in TV Land. Hope your weekend is fun oh Greatest Aunt!

ps my captcha word is : pricshv
Go on...just say it phonetically :)

D- Yes that is Katey Segal and she is bloody amazing in this show!

B- not in my experience either- which is partly why I like the show :)

Thanks Ladies, I will spend my weekend snuggling a 5 week old babe and passing him back to his mother when he's squawky or stinky!
Oh and drinking- I will be doing that too!! Because- well, it's still the inlaws!

My husband watches that show. I have watched it once or twice but did not get addicted. Thank goodness, I don't need another one! Lol.

Have a great weekend with your in-laws. If you get them drunk enough they won't notice the dust bunnies. That's generally my strategy anyway.
