Knock, Knock.

Who’s there?

Amethyst Anne.

Amethyst Anne who?

{Sigh}

Exactly!

I’ve had a case of the absentee blogger virus that seems to be making its rounds these days. Well that, and to be quite honest, I’ve been a bit busy in my real life. I’ve only had time to skulk about on the interwebs, randomly popping up here and there- really much more there than here.
Last time I checked it was the beginning of November and the month was full of promise and joy, then we got slammed with one hell of a cold snap around here that apparently froze my mental connection to the internet. See? Mother Nature is a whore, a brain freezing whore!
Then we went away for a weekend, and another weekend got swallowed up by a flu ( Read: hangover) that I haven’t experienced in  a long, long time. I swear once and a while it is really nice to let loose, kick up your heels, do some shots( ok not really but it sounds much more like me) and pretend you are twenty something again. Sadly my body and liver had other plans for me.
I had some work to do in between weekends, and some Cub related stuff in there too. There was the anniversary thing, and the family thingsssssss....and the nothingness things.
This weekend , we did up Cub’s 7th birthday party. His actual birthday isn’t until next month ( see how I make that sound so far away and not Wednesday??) but this party was for his friends. It was a hoot and Cub spent the whole day surrounded by 7 of his closest friends, loving every minute of it! The kids were awesome and kind, and there was only one high maintenance child there (not mine either- he’s awesome if I do say so myself- but I may be slightly biased)
So yup, that’s pretty much been my November- I know hey – hold on to your hat’s people cause it’s been a whoot and a half !
December is right around the corner and with it comes the stress inducing, havoc that is Christmas. We are currently trying to figure out where we are going to put the Christmas tree, because well, you may remember this...

Let’s just say that she’s not as small as she was last year, and we need to secure the tree to the ceiling so that it doesn’t come crashing down.  I would also rather like to be able to actually put some decorations on the tree this year so she and I will be spending a little time discussing the sentimental value of my Christmas ornaments.
I'm sure once I calmly explain it to her she will understand.
I'll keep you posted!

We've come a long way.

Posted by Amethyst Anne in , ,

November..
Generally a pretty damn fine month for me. X and I's wedding anniversary is this month. We will be married 9 years and together for 13. We've come a long way my love, in one short year.
This month also marks my one year  bloggy resurrection. When I was looking back trying to remember the exact date that I started blogging again, I realized that it really isn't important. In fact, I would prefer to not remember the exact reason why I started blogging again, and remember the reason I started blogging in the first place.
I needed this blog to be for me, a place to share the idiosyncrasies of my little life. Be them good, bad or ugly. I needed a place to write, to vent, to cry, to have of my very own. Some days I feel that I have achieved this goal, other days, like today when I have not been here for a while and I am in a little weird head space, I wonder. Either way, I have been actively blogging for a year now, and that makes me smile.
Along with this blog resurrection, I've 'met' some pretty damn fine people. Each and everyday I log in and look for your newest posts with anticipation. When I see that you have a new post, it feels like stopping at the mail box and realizing you have a little parcel to pick up, you know the unexpected kind. The one that makes your heart do a little flip...yeah that's the one.
So to my bloggy friends- I wanted to just say; Thank you for sharing and making me smile almost each and every day. Your kindness, compassion, advice and humour mean more to me than I can put into words.
Happy Bloggy Resurrection Month to each of you!!
Look I even have CAKE!!

Smooches!!

Commuting Episode 1: Just when I think I've seen just about everything

Posted by Amethyst Anne

My commute to work can be entertaining. I've had a number of run ins with complete lunatics, sign waving guys asking me for a date, moose, deer, rednecks and bad, bad bad drivers. But this morning... I was slack jawed.
I left home, headed out on the highway behind this piece of shit truck. This truck was driven by a woman whom I could only fairly describe as having only brushed one side of her hair. One side was perfectly flat, the other side, well in the shadows it looked like Medusa. Odd enough.
She was accelerating slowly up to highway speed so I tried to wait her out (Seeing as though she was in the 'get the fuck out of my way lane- otherwise known as the fast lane) she didn't pull over to the right.. so I signaled to change lanes, when she started to drift into the left lane.
I thought she may be changing lanes- apparently she decided that the best and safest place to drive was right in the middle of the highway. She remained there, for a good 10 minutes with me right behind her trying to find a way around her. Oh and the traffic was piling up behind me. I nearly wore out my horn.
Finally I scooted over onto the shoulder and deaked around her. As I was beside her I shot her my best ARE YOU FUCKING CRAZY look- and she didn't even notice me because she was too busy smoking something out of a hand crafted pipe! WHAT!!!!
I hit the gas and maxed out my little car as fast as she could go- just to get as physically far away from her as possible for fear that Medusa head could turn my tailpipe into a meth pipe.
Yup, smoking meth, or crack...nothing wakes you up like your first hit in the morning.
Maybe I missed the commuter memo- you know the one where we cash in our morning coffee and replace it with meth!!
Oh, I wonder what sights I will see on my way HOME..

Kisses and safe travels to all!!
