Here I sit...

Posted by Amethyst Anne in , ,
And sit and sit.... This is not by choice, but rather out of necessity.
I've gone and buggered up my foot. Well I haven't really done anything really specific to it, other than oh I don't know, STAND on it.
You see I have bad ankles. I have what you would call weak ankles, you know the kind that as soon as you put on a shoe with more than an inch of a heel on them, my foot wobbles and it is without fail (especially if I have consumed any kind of alcohol) that my ankle will fold in half and I will wind up sitting on my ass.
This little shoe problem has been a rather pain when it comes to feeding my shoe junkie tendencies. Every few years or so, I will find a cute/sexy shoe that just screams at me to buy them. Ok this actually happens more than every few years, this happens almost every time I find myself in a shoe store.
There is always one super cute/sexy pair of heels that I long to purchase. I will even go so far as to try them on, just to see....and that is when the ankles wobble and I promptly sit my ass down and put the shoes back on the shelf.
I wasn't always this practical.. I love me some heels, mostly because since I met the man I married I can actually wear heels. (trust me that the irony of this is NOT lost on me!) I'm a tall lass, and have always towered over most of the men I have dated in my life. Until my hubby...he towers over me, so when we first started dating I ran out and purchased my first pair of boots with a 3 inch heel!! God I was so excited. They were super sexy and I was so embarrassed beyond belief when, on our date, I took a step and wound up ass down in the snow unable to walk because my ankle was turning a beautiful shade of purple.
I held onto those boots for several years, I tried, oh how I tried to wear them. I wore them to a wedding once, and that night on the walk home from the reception, I ended up spending more time on my butt that I ended up taking them off and walking home barefoot.
They went to the goodwill the next week.
Sadly, me sitting here on my ass has got nothing to do with me trying to rock the sexy shoes. No it has much more to do with bursitis.
I have had this problem for years, and it has been compounded by the fact that I have had to have a number of surgeries on both my ankles for torn tendons that ironically were not shoe related! As a result, over the years,I have developed some bursitis in my heels. Not only will my feet ache beyond belief if I spend too much time on them without shoes on, but if it rains, it aggravates it even more. Combine the two and you have me..today..and yesterday.
Yes, good times abound here.
So here I sit, shoeless, swollen and sulking!

Here's hoping your week is off to a much better start!
Smooches,

I feel your pain AA...well maybe not your actual physical pain, but the pain of not being able to wear heels. I used to rock some heels when I was younger and the now that I'm married to Big G (who is tall) I thought that I'd get to strut about all long and leggy; but no, my sense of balance seems to have gone the way of my 40's...somewhere way back there in the past and I've come to accept the first stage of being an old biddy...comfortable shoes are everything.
Hope you heal (heel) soon!

Aw, hon ... I'm sorry your week has started off so rough. You also have my condolences on the heels ... you know I love me some heels ... mind you, I needed them to be able to look you in the eye.

Feel better, my friend.

Thanks Ladies!!
I am up and around today- much much better than yesterday and Sunday.
I'm still down about the whole shoe fetish thing, but am learning that cute/sexy shoes can be flats too!
