Tat you?

Posted by Amethyst Anne
OK, I haven't been around here much, but I've been doing stuff. Well more like thinking stuff, and some doing stuff! So for your reading pleasure, below is some of the stuff I've been thinking/dreading/doing/not doing broken down by subject matter to keep my OCD in check!

The looming 40th Birthday
(Yes I know that it is still 5 months away! But I PLAN! I'm a planner that Loves to make deadlines to miss!)
I want to get a tattoo.
This is not new. I wanted to get one for my 30th birthday, but that never came to fruition, mostly due to my indecision as to what to get.
I am resolved to get a tattoo for my 40th birthday and because I am an ADULT, if I can't decide on just one, then I will get TWO! Because I can!
So I have started the process of figuring out what to get. I already know the where (s). Now it's the what.
Lucky for me I have a few months.

Baby Trail
Also going with the arbitrary deadline, I'm still on the baby trail. However I've decided that I actually need to put some effort into the whole process, so I've changed some habits in my life- sorry Vodka my old friend, we will now have to meet less often! I've also added some good habits, well they are pretty new, but they will be habits!! Hopefully this will all work together and presto chango alacazammmm this will all happen before the 40th birthday deadline..
(OK I seriously need to work on the deadline thing)

Fucking October is coming again
GAWL I hate this month. With the noted exception of Halloween of course. That one day is one of the only things to get me through this pit of hell we over here in AA land call October.
I am still trying to figure out how to skip the whole rest of the month and land straight on Halloween!
In an effort to keep myself busy during that month I have started the annual making of the costumes!
The Cub will be Anakin Skywalker
The man I married will be Darth Maul ( plans are to shave his head and paint it red..bwaahhhaaaa!!)
I will be....... Yeah I don't know yet! Currently I am trying to convince myself that I can pull off some sort of tutu.......*waits for the laughter to stop*........Yes I said TUTU!! But with a cape..and it will be long.....oh nevermind! I don't know why I want to make a Tutu, let alone WEAR it!! But you know what! I think I just might!...Evil Fairy maybe...
Because I am an ADULT!!
(maybe)
Anyways, I'm outta here! Going to sew!!
Smooches!!

It's that kind of day...

Posted by Amethyst Anne

I find myself in an odd place today, for reasons that remain unclear at this point.
Maybe it is the sudden change in weather that has caused me to be reflective.
Perhaps it is the lack of sleep last night that let the wandering thoughts run rampant, thus running into my overall mood today.

Perhaps it is my overall frustration with myself, with my lack of motivation, my lack of will power and clarity.
I hate this mood. It is all encompassing and strangles my soul.
I cannot wait to be home, to hug my Cub.
I cannot wait to have the man I love wrap his arms around me and tell me everything will be alright and that I am allowed to have a bad day.
Til tomorrow!

Well Hi there..no you...Hiding over there.. HI

Posted by Amethyst Anne
Life has been pretty mundane around these here parts as of late. We here in the the AA household are coming down from an 'eventful' summer.  The man I married and I have traveled over 10,00km this summer. That is a lot of ass miles! Which could help explain perhaps exactly why my ass feels like it has expanded. Well, that and the copious amounts of Vodka that has been consumed.
The summer recap-We started off with a trip out to Saskatchewan to visit Admin and family, which was one wicked way to kick start our summer.
Cub spent 3 weeks without us. Or more like we spent 3 weeks without our Cub. He of course fared much better than his parents. He was with his Grandparents (both sets) Cousins and numerous Aunts and Uncles. His parents started to mope around week 2, you know after we spent a whole week reconnecting and making some emotional deposits into our marriage bank account.
We took a week off and took the boy (and cousin) camping - twas a good time, but we only ended up spending 3 days at the lake. The weather was awesome! Our boating experience was not. Suffice it to say that I would much rather end up driving a boat than paddling it back to the dock!
We then headed down to visit my 90 year old Grandmother for her surprise birthday party. We took my parents with us in the same vehicle. That was a rocking good time of the holy hell do I not want to do that anytime soon again kind.
Then we came home.
Now we are back to school and the 'normalcy' that is our house. You know, same old same old. In fact it has taken me several weeks to just muster up enough gumption to get on here to just write. No matter how boring I think it sounds ( and I KNOW IT IS..it's alright...really)
Cub started grade 3 this year, and we have already been dealing with a bully issue (left over from grade 1, but now they are in the same class)  We have been trying to decide if we want to move the Cub out of the class and into a new one, where he won't have to see the Bully every day. We've been trying to make an informed decision in this regard, and it dawned on me to actually ask the Cub what he wanted to do... He wants to stay. Doesn't want to move classes.
Well then, I guess I can put my Momma bear freaking out don't you touch my child or I will drown your little grade 3 ass hat away then. I will be paying very close attention to the whole situation though.
Me?? What about me you ask?? Yuppers, not a lot going on with me. Well, I've probably spent way too much time beating up on myself for not doing several things I promised myself I would actually get done this summer. Oh and it's not little stuff like paint the kitchen cupboards that I moved so that they match the rest of the kitchen, oh helllllsss nooo. I'm  talking more about the whole, get in shape, quit smoking and cut back on the alcohol intake variety. One thing I have learned about myself over the past few months (OK maybe two things) 1. I lack self discipline. Which of course looking back now, I can say...well hell, that's not new! How do you think you got yourself into this situation in the first place?? Sheesh AA!
2. I may be lazy. And by that I mean, that it is easier to do what you know how to do than to implement something new. Again, please see 1 above for the explanation as to why I am where I am.
I know, poor, poor AA.... yes, yes, she's still all whoo hooo..
See I TOLD you ... same old same old!
Whoo hoo or not, It's nice to be back. I look forward to not just stalking your blogs!

Three little words...

Posted by Amethyst Anne in , ,

There are three little words when strung together in a certain context, throw me into a fit of rage, comparable to a stampeding herd of pissed off elephants.

"Like a girl"

In order for you to understand my full ire, I need to give you a little back story.

Over the weekend, the Cub played in his first baseball tournament ever! Cub was beaming from ear to ear, and he played so well that his Mom may have shed several tears of pride.  His team did really really well for being a lot of first year rookie players. These kids have heart and have dramatically improved over the year. Including the two girls on the team.

During one of the games, the better baller of the two girls, hit the pitch and the ball flew back into her face, splitting her lip. Blood was everywhere, and her Dad took her off to home ( we guess?) and all of us completely expected that would be the last we would see of her for the day.
Then she came back for the last game and hopped right in there like nothing happened, fat swollen, bruised lips and all.
See, the heart I was talking about.
The kids all got trophies when the tournament was over, all of them beaming with pride. T'was a great day!

Last night was Cub's second to last baseball game for the year. The kids were playing one of the better teams they played during the tournament and they were holding their own. The Cubs team, I must add are completely unaware of the score, they never ask, they are never told. The kids were hitting like mad demons, it was awesome!

There is one head coach and two assistant coaches. The head coach is one hell of a guy! He is awesome! In fact he's so awesome as a coach, the husband may have a little man crush on his coaching abilities! The one assistant coach is also terrific. But then there is  the other one.

The other   Ass(istant) coach, never has anything positive to say to any of the kids regardless of what they have just done. If they hit the ball and make it on base, he yells at them for not holding up their elbow or not swinging through. He criticizes thier running, hitting, standing.. I believe you get my point. But the kids listen to him, because he is part of the team. Well they listen, and filter in my childs case, but they still hear him. This Ass(istant) coach was not at the tournament on the weekend and you could see the difference in the kids. He also had no knowledge of what happened.
Ass(istant)'s kid is up to bat. He's swinging like a mad man, trying to hit the ball out of the park and keeps missing.
Then I heard it,

"Don't strike out LIKE A GIRL!"

Ass(istant) is standing there bellowing at his child, in front of the team bench, in front of all the parents.
It was at this point that the Mom beside me, went;
"What?"
Her Husband sat forward ready to pounce.

I called out
"EXCUSE ME???"
Ass(istant) looked at me directly and promptly shut the hell up.

The three of us sat there stunned and dumbfounded that this hillbilly redneck who is in a position of authority just slammed two members of his team and every Mother sitting there watching.
He's damn lucky that the husband didn't hear him ( he was on the bloody phone for work) and all he saw was two wives getting all pissed off, another guy ready to pounce and he had no clue what was going on. ( This was actually the amusing part of this tale, because the poor husband was all, WTH?? People, Why is my wife clucking her head like a rabid chicken and trying to tear this man limb from limb? I only tuned out of the game for 5 seconds and all hell breaks loose?)
Thankfully, I didn't have to rip him a new one, but I sure as hell would have.
Nope found out later that the coach did! ( told ya he was pretty awesome!)

Girls (and everyone who isn't an asshat) 1
Ass(istant) 0

Oh and HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!

Here I sit...

Posted by Amethyst Anne in , ,
And sit and sit.... This is not by choice, but rather out of necessity.
I've gone and buggered up my foot. Well I haven't really done anything really specific to it, other than oh I don't know, STAND on it.
You see I have bad ankles. I have what you would call weak ankles, you know the kind that as soon as you put on a shoe with more than an inch of a heel on them, my foot wobbles and it is without fail (especially if I have consumed any kind of alcohol) that my ankle will fold in half and I will wind up sitting on my ass.
This little shoe problem has been a rather pain when it comes to feeding my shoe junkie tendencies. Every few years or so, I will find a cute/sexy shoe that just screams at me to buy them. Ok this actually happens more than every few years, this happens almost every time I find myself in a shoe store.
There is always one super cute/sexy pair of heels that I long to purchase. I will even go so far as to try them on, just to see....and that is when the ankles wobble and I promptly sit my ass down and put the shoes back on the shelf.
I wasn't always this practical.. I love me some heels, mostly because since I met the man I married I can actually wear heels. (trust me that the irony of this is NOT lost on me!) I'm a tall lass, and have always towered over most of the men I have dated in my life. Until my hubby...he towers over me, so when we first started dating I ran out and purchased my first pair of boots with a 3 inch heel!! God I was so excited. They were super sexy and I was so embarrassed beyond belief when, on our date, I took a step and wound up ass down in the snow unable to walk because my ankle was turning a beautiful shade of purple.
I held onto those boots for several years, I tried, oh how I tried to wear them. I wore them to a wedding once, and that night on the walk home from the reception, I ended up spending more time on my butt that I ended up taking them off and walking home barefoot.
They went to the goodwill the next week.
Sadly, me sitting here on my ass has got nothing to do with me trying to rock the sexy shoes. No it has much more to do with bursitis.
I have had this problem for years, and it has been compounded by the fact that I have had to have a number of surgeries on both my ankles for torn tendons that ironically were not shoe related! As a result, over the years,I have developed some bursitis in my heels. Not only will my feet ache beyond belief if I spend too much time on them without shoes on, but if it rains, it aggravates it even more. Combine the two and you have me..today..and yesterday.
Yes, good times abound here.
So here I sit, shoeless, swollen and sulking!

Here's hoping your week is off to a much better start!
Smooches,

You thought wrong.

Posted by Amethyst Anne in
Once again I am faced with another month of my own mortality. Once again I am forced to look in the mirror and pronounce upon myself that I am indeed getting closer to 40 and while I may feel more like 30, my body and therefore my reproductive system are not.
Trust me when I say to not go googling pregnancy chances and 39 year olds on the internet. This was one cold hard lesson in the reality that is the internet upon my psyche.
Apparently according to the internet (which we all know to be correct because it is on the internet) being a 39 year old woman is near death, I mean, on a good month I may have a whopping 15% chance or lower of getting knocked up. However, of course in all of the disclaimers, this percentage pertains to the 30's in general and as the late thirties approach this number could in fact be much much lower.

Fucking wonderful..
You thought you were good to go....

But wait...There's more..

If you are over weight, that decreases your chances,
Well, last time I checked I wasn't all that freaking thin the last time I got knocked up.

You drink coffee? That decreases your chances.
You don't want me to NOT drink coffee! There will be no hope in hell of me ever seeing the nakedness of the man I married if I am not sustained by coffee. He won't want to be in the same room as me!

Do you consume alcoholic beverages? That decreases your chances.
Ummm.....This one I may beg to differ on, I really think that should read, INCREASE.

Do you smoke? Well that decreases your chances.
Guilty, guilty and every time I light one up guilty..

So let's see, another 4 decreases on a slightly decreased scale, I figure by these calculations that I have at best an 11% chance..but I've never been all that great at math so I am sure that number is much closer to 5%.
Oh but there is more!!
According to the old and wise internet, the likelihood of having Twins increases as you age, because, your eggs are more likely to travel in pairs. Apparently they don't like to travel alone when they are older, maybe those fallopian tubes are spooky, who am I to judge.

So, let me get this straight, if by some miracle of miracles I do manage to time/stand/lay/sacrifice something small/ get myself impregnated, the upside is a real possibility of having twins!
What the hell?

This month there is no fear of twins and I am off to contemplate/ruminate/cry/beat myself up/ hormone out for the next week.

Maybe next month.

Magic Morphing Shed!

Posted by Amethyst Anne in , ,
The man I married and I are currently experiencing buyers remorse. In our defense it seemed like a good idea at the time.
You see we bought a shed. We don't have a garage, and are really rather tired of hauling up the Cub's bicycle from the basement rec room on a daily basis. Never mind all of the things we pay to heat that are in our basement that could easily be outside in a SHED!
We have a small shed outside, but it gets so stuffed full, that we can barely close the door. Trust me when I say that not much else fits in that shed other than the lawn mower!
So we've been looking for another much larger shed that didn't cost upwards of several thousands of dollars. For months we watched flyers, kijii , etc and a couple months ago VOILA! Brand new shed, on sale at Home Depot (I used to like them). So off we went, it seemed odd at the time, buying a shed while there was still snow on the ground, but we had plans! We were so excited, it was a smoking good deal, the world was full of promise!
Really the price should have been the first tip off.
The second tip off should have been when they brought it out to us on a trolley and we attempted to lift the 200 pound thing onto the back of the truck.
Well we rationalized that it was a metal shed and that shit isn't light, so we would wrap it up in a tarp and put it on our deck until we could set it up in the backyard.
For over two months it sat there until the snow had melted and we had the time to set it up.
The long weekend approached, we made plans, the new shed would be built! We were prepared!
Then we opened the box to have a peek, and get the instructions.
The husband fished out a sack of hardware and plopped himself down with the instructions Friday night.
Now to be fair to the shed, we did know that we would have to find a level place to put it, and our yard is far from anything resembling level, so we knew there would be some ground preparation involved.
Once the Husband hit Step 11 he let out a "ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!" Loud enough for the whole neighborhood to hear.
Apparently, at Step 11, you must completed the next 2200 steps until the shed is completely done, or risk damaging your newly purchased 200 pound baby.
OK, I said, what's the big deal? That should be fine? Really what, that should take us, what max 3 hours?
( It is at this point that I must admit that I am notorious for underestimating the time involved when starting a project. In my defense, the man I married, is notorious for over estimating the time involved, so really either way we're screwed, or his way is better because then you would be pleasantly surprised that it only took you 3 hours instead of the 9 you thought it would..but I digress)
So right in the instructions is states that you should allow yourself around 9 hours for assembly past this point.
WTH?? Well how long for the first 22 steps? Approximately 3 hours.
It was at this point that I lifted the lid of the box to look at all of the million and a half pieces that one is lead to believe will morph into a shed! Really, shed people? Could you not take a page out of Ikea and at least give me an allen key and bigger pieces??
Still, somewhat trepidatious, the man I married and I revamped our "Shed Plan"! Saturday we would level the ground (after digging it up) and build the base for the shed. Then Sunday we would have the whole day to build the shed and Monday we would do family fun stuff with the boy.
Saturday am we got up all prepped to go, we started to mark out where the shed was going to go when each of us tried to dig out some grass at that spot. For two hours we tried! But apparently the grass had other ideas. So we made an executive decision and went and rented a tiller. While we were renting the tiller, we also decided that now would be a good time to dig up the grass at the end of our existing deck, in preparation for the deck extension we wanted to make. I mean, why rent the thing twice!
With a fairly large chunk of our yard now in dirt form, we realized that we best get some rock for the leveling phase for both places (and to minimize any and all mud tracking into the house)
So we had to go get rocks, lots and lots of rocks.
By the time we unloaded the first of two loads of rocks it was damn near dinner time. So much for planning! (Veridict is still out on who was right about this time estimate)
After drinks, I mean dinner, we had an executive meeting. We were already a day behind, so this shed project would need to take up the next two days of our weekend. This would mean no fun family time, unless you consider copious amounts of sweat and swearing a roaring good time for a seven year old boy!
It was at this point in the evening, that my love for my husband became overly apparent.
"Babe, I really don't want to build this fucking thing this weekend. To be honest I would rather build the deck extension we want."
And that is how our "Shed"  morphed into build a deck in the rain instead.
As some of you may know, the long weekend was , um, er, several weekends ago.
Yes the opened shed and it's million and one pieces are still wrapped up on my deck.
Yes we are still trucking the Cub's bike out of the basement every night.
Yes, I have seriously thought about how to return the blasted thing. But the box is open and I still NEED a shed!
Yes we have started having conversations like this;
"Well, if we had a shed. We could put that in there."
"I hear we're going to have a shed."
"You know, we could really use another shed! Oh wait!! HAAAHAHAHAHA!"
Yes, we may need to get out of the house more often!
So it is with high hopes that this weekend as I sit on my new deck and watch my Cub play in the backyard, that the Shed, will play nice and just assemble itself.
Baring that, I may just start stuffing things on top of the shed box under the tarp and call it a day!

Almost died, right there..yes there!!

Posted by Amethyst Anne in , ,
So it has been a week and a bit since I returned from my little excursion half way across the country. It is amazing just how much work and junk pile up on you when you've been away, hence why it has taken me this long to actually sit down at a computer for anything fun related.
For those of you who follow both the lovely Ms. Danica Dragonfly and myself, you have already heard from her over here . Let me just say for the record that she made me blush and tears welled maybe just a little when I read all of the really nice things she had to say about me. But of course she had nice things to say about me...she tried to kill me after all! More about that later..
Now it's time for my side of the story!!
I had to go to Ontario for a work conference, and the Cub was alright with me being away, however he asked that I take his bear Winston with me, so that I could take some pictures of him and all the places he had been.
My conference was in Niagara Falls from Wednesday to Friday afternoon. Friday I was back off to Toronto to spend the weekend with DD!When time allowed, Winston and I took many pictures for the Cub.
Of course, the Cub wanted to take these pictures to school for show and tell the day after I got home, so I was up late printing and compiling a book for him to take to school!
Nice lady from England at the Canadian Falls
Canadian Falls- a closer look

American Falls- a closer look

Yes we did a winery tour and drank wine !
The conference was good and somewhat exhausting but I had trepidations as Friday approached. I mean here I was, going off to the airport to meet someone I had never met in person before and we were going to spend the weekend together in a city far away from my home.
As luck would have it, I arrived in time to meet DD's plane. Once she finally made it out of the baggage pick up and we found ourselves settled on the shuttle to the hotel. (read here for more on that which was honestly rather funny) the nerves I had quickly dissipated. From the second we sat on the shuttle, we talked and giggled like two long lost friends. Of course we sat at the back of the bus, yet were probably loud enough for the entire bus load to hear! I honestly didn't care! Who knew me here?
We made it to our hotel, beaming like a bunch of Cheshire cats. The hotel was fabulous, the hotel key I had, had fish on it, and there was a picture of dragon flies in the bathroom! I took this as a good sign!
Once settled we headed out to walk the Queens Qway and forage up some more alcohol. Yes it is true that I brought a 60 with me, but I didn't anticipate that we would be running out for a mickey of Sour Puss and a bottle of Contreau so that we could make Martini's in the martini set Dani brought with her!

From our room
For the man I sleep with! I saw this and thought of you X!!
The walk along the harbour was beautiful! We had dinner on one of the boardwalks and talked, and talked and giggled!
( Side bar: I did take a fantastic picture of Dani, but she threatened me within an inch of my life if I were to post it, so take my word for it that she is absolutely lovely!)
We headed back to the hotel to settle in with our alcohol. It is at this point of the trip that things get a wee bit fuzzy.
I remember breaking out the chips and dip, I remember, laughing and crying and having one of the best sleep over nights of all time! At times I felt like a child again, giggling so hard I cried. This is also when Dani tried to kill me. You see she's from NOVA SCOTIA, and can apparently hold her alcohol like no other person I have ever met! I thought I was pretty damn good at it myself, but damn! The next morning, I was greener than green.I could barely move my head from the pillow. Really upon further examination of all the alcohol consumed it was a wonder that I was even breathing! Mother Nature must have decided to take pity on me, because it was pouring rain and this allowed me sufficient  time to recover enough to move. Thankfully Dani is also one of the nicest people (even though she tried to KILL ME with alcohol poisoning) and doesn't kick a girl when she's down.
This mirror rocked! But I also spent a lot of time in here making friends with the porcelain fixtures!
Once we ( ok I was able to stop hurling my cookies) we opted to go to Eaton Centre. For the record, the little map thingy made it look a lot closer than it really was! AND for the record, I was not the only one who's mind it didn't cross to hail one of the 100 cabs we saw on our walk in the pouring rain! I have honestly never ever been that sopping wet in my entire life.
We mushed around the mall, and headed back to the hotel ( in a cab!!) where we sat and packed up for our morning departure. I learned a lot this trip, a lot about myself, and a lot about DD.
Things I learned about Danica Dragonfly
  1. She is funny, smart and sassy like she is on her blog!
  2. If you are up against her in a drinking competition, concede.
  3. Her laugh is infectious and her smile can brighten any room.
  4. She's far too hard on herself!
  5. Even though she's from NOVA SCOTIA, she really really doesn't like the rain.Or being wet.( who knew?)
  6. She's beautiful and strong willed. ( You should see the face she makes when she's been out in the rain for an hour!)
  7. Keep her the hell away from large crowds! (Especially if she's been in the rain)
  8. She's the kind of friend that would lounge around waiting for you to feel better and not laugh at you once! (Even when you blame her for trying to kill you)
  9. Her love for her family and her friends runs so deep within her.
  10. She is an amazing story teller!
  11. I'm happy to call her my friend and so very thankful she's in my life!
Thank you D from all of my heart for one of the best weekends I have ever had. Your friendship means the world to me and I can only hope that we will get to do this again. I look forward to the day when our families can meet!
You just knew I'd post one picture!

Leaving on Sunday was bittersweet. I had to say goodbye to my friend and I may have cried just a little about that over breakfast as her flight took off.
I was happy to be heading home to my guys though, and I made sure to bring Winston on the plane for the trip home.
Turns out, he is quite the bear. One of the flight attendants took to him and when I explained what I was doing with him, well, she let us into the cockpit to complete the album for the Cub.
Flying the plane home!
All in all, I got to do a cool thing for my Cub. I got to meet one hell of a woman and have a girls weekend away (which I have never done in my entire life!) and I got to come home to the man I love beyond a shadow of a doubt.
I will never forget this weekend!
Never!

I'm leaving on a jet plane

Posted by Amethyst Anne in , ,
But I do know when I will be back again.. Sunday!
Yup, I am off tomorrow to board a plane and fly to the other side of my rather large country for a conference. While I am away and in the lovely place called Niagara Falls, I will be doing worky type things and probably drinking too much. I did mention the open bars at this conference did I not? Oh. My. Word. How could I possibly NOT mention free booze. Of course the free booze is not why I go, it just helps me sleep. Shush you!
THEN.. and here's the bestest part!!! After the worky conference thingy with free booze, I will be going back to Toronto where I will get to spend the weekend with the lovely and wonderful Danica Dragonfly!!!
*does a little dance* Of course I am super excited to get to meet her in real life, face to face, hanging out and chilling!! But (how did you know there was a but here??) I am also a little nervous? I mean, what if we cause some sort of cosmic nuclear reaction that we could dub, "When good bloggers go bad." Maybe we should do a video blog while we are together causing mayhem, I mean, um, being good and not doing anything fun related AT ALL!!
*Snort*

Of course if you are my mother, you have already thought of all the worst case scenarios and what ifs.
"What do you mean you've never met her? And you are going to spend the weekend with her? Do you think this is a good idea? What if this...? What if that....?Well dear, as long as you are careful."
OK, MOM...good thing I've made it to almost 40.. I mean 30 something something! MAH GOD.. like I couldn't go if she didn't tell me to be careful? Last time I checked I also wasn't asking her permission either!! Sheesh!!
*kicks dirt*
It's OK, I don't expect her to understand just how excited I am to go, or how many wonderful people I have met out here in cyber space that I consider friends! She doesn't get it and that's OK with me. What is hard though, is when she who doesn't get it, tries to explain it to her mother. You know my almost 90 year old Grandmother??
Last night my grandmother left me the following voice mail.
" Hi AA, grandma here. Sorry I missed your call. Your mother tells me you are off to your conference thing again and then you will be spending some time with your friend you met on the computer. Well be safe dear."
I now have this little image of all of you, being around an inch tall and sitting here on my little screen.
Way to go Mom, way to go!

So this trip will be the longest I have ever been away from the man I married and the Cub. I of course think this is a big deal. Cub, not so much apparently. While I am happy that he is excited for his week alone with Dad, I however would like him to miss me, just a little. I was feeling pretty mopey about it last night and he and I were joking around, I kept asking him if he was going to miss me, and he kept saying Nope, NUH UH, with the biggest of grins. So in the nature of the joke, I kidded that if he wasn't going to miss me then I sure didn't need to bring anything back for him. Well of course I will miss you MOM! But just a little!
Then the man I married, pipes in and says,"Well if you don't miss her, maybe she won't come home!" "HA!" says Cub.
And that's when I did it. That's right at the point that I reduced my poor 7 year old Cub to alligator tears that made my heart melt. It was at this point that I jokingly said, "Well maybe I'll just stay there!" I have never heard him say NO with quite that much fear in his voice.
Yeah, I lost my Mom button. I cried , I hugged him and I explained that I was just trying to be funny like he was, but that it was very mean of me.
Bad, Bad, Mom.
Hopefully he won't think of that particular moment at any point this week and that he and Dad have the best week without Mom EVER!
(Of course the poor man I married is slightly freaking out about the whole 'cooking and lunches' idea, so if you see him lurking around the internet looking and asking for recipes and easy dishes to make, please be gentle.)
Hopefully I will be checking in periodically ( if the hotel has free wifi I will be for sure!!)
Have a great week! But don't have too much fun! Oh and BE SAFE!!

Happy Easter Yo!

Posted by Amethyst Anne in , ,
So gangster I know!
I'm in a great head space today. Today is technically a Friday so of course this makes me happy! 4 days off! 4 glorious days away from work. Enough time to relax and enjoy the weekend.
The sun is shining ( FINALLY) and the snow has started to melt ( FINALLY) it feels as though Spring has finally arrived here in my little corner of the world.
I have spent the week getting ready for the annual familial invasion. My parental units arrived yesterday, and today my Sis and family come.
There will be colouring of eggs, hair do's, and tons of food. Oh and alcohol- DURR - it helps me through people, just you shussh now after all it is 4 days with my family!!
This week didn't start off all that great though, I was in a not good space there for a couple of days when a sunshine beam pulled my head out of my ass and she gave me something wickedly wonderful to laugh about!
Because of this, I will now be able to relax and enjoy my weekend with my family.
I wish all of you a wonderful Easter weekend regardless of what it is you celebrate!
Hey do you think Vodka would go well with chocolate?
Chocolate dipped in vodka? Vodka infused chocolate?
Shot of Vodka, chocolate bunny chaser?

Oooooohhhhh so many combinations, so little time!
Watch out hips!

Yes, I've just been doing.
I've been doing a lot of work.
I've been doing a lot of planning.
I've been doing a lot of thinking.
I've been doing a lot of wishing.
I've been doing a lot of wanting.
I've been doing a lot of playing.
I've been doing a lot of hoping.
I've been doing a lot of being.

How have you been doing?

Outlaws, In-laws and Addiction.

Posted by Amethyst Anne in , ,
I may have a slightly addictive personality. By which I don’t imply that my personality is addictive, no I am referring to my tendency to hone in and become completely and utterly absorbed with the flavour of the day.
I have spent countless hours hunched over a sewing machine, sitting at a computer, crafting sparkly nipple decorations, knitting etc. Until the project I am working on is DONE! I cannot do anything else, my brain doesn’t function properly. For me there are no other options. Of course this addictive nature has got me into some troublesome spots with regards to other things that may or may not be good for me. Fun- yes, healthy- hells no. But that’s not what I am talking about here ,so you will hear no wild stories today.
Where the hell was I going- oh yeah, that addiction thing, it applies to TV shows too.  Most noticeably a few years back, the man I sleep with and I got turned onto Dexter. Of course we started late and we immediately got hooked. We rented the DVD’s of the first Season and we watched them back to back so that we could start the second season all good to go. This wasn’t too bad, but this time.
You see the husband talked me into watching Sons of Anarchy. I was resistant at first, and I must say that this show just finished up its third season, so there are two seasons to watch on DVD, and one season on the boob tube to watch. That is a lot of catch up.
So after the first episode I was hooked. I mean HOOKED. Did I mention that the show is about a Biker club? You know, bikers, sexy, mean, alpha bikers.. psst husband, you should stop reading right now and go look at something else for awhile..
Go on, I’ll wait.....
Is he gone?
Ok, good he’s gone, so yeah, um, bikers.. yummy ones- but that aside the show itself is unbelievable!  The women are strong and fierce, the plots are well written, the characters are solid and yeah  it is addictive as all get the hell out.
Of course, we watched the first season back to back ( 13 episodes per season, 1 hour each) we were averaging 3 a night!! We would get everything done that needed to and after The Cub went to bed we would hunker in for a three hour tour of biker land.
This all started last Thursday.
Last night we finished Season 2, because we had too. (26 episodes in 6 days)
Now don’t you be judging me.... We had to finish it because the inlaws are coming for a visit. I couldn’t leave it mid season for 4 days!! GAH!!
The mother in law, sister in law, niece ,boyfriend/baby daddy and the great nephew are coming for a visit.
Yes you read that right. I became a Great Aunt in January. Actually I prefer the term Greatest Aunt. ( oh yeah this has gone a long way to my overall old feeling)
Anyhoooo, there will be company; company that I needed to clean the house for. Like clean as in actually really clean for because, well, it is my MOTHER IN LAW.
So you see where I may have gotten into a smidge of trouble? I’ve had my ass parked in front of the TV drooling over Bikers when I should have been CLEANING...
Yes they come today. They are enroute as we speak.
No panic!
There are dishes all over my kitchen.
The bed needs to be made.
There are dust bunnies abound!
I am at work, and the last time I checked the Fur kids are rather useless when it comes to cleaning.
*breathes in..*
Oh and know what?
It was TOTALLY worth it!!
Bring on Season 3!!
Vrrooom, Vrooom..
